My Mobile Solo-Gig Rig.

The bus-friendly full solo rig, complete with mic stand and guitar stand.

I've been gigging a lot lately.  I mean a lot.  About forty shows over July and August, with multiple artists and quite a few solo shows.  I've had two shows a day for the last three Saturdays, and it looks like a trend that will continue.
Of course my car decided to pack it in recently, so I'm back to getting to the gig on the bus when I'm working solo, and that requires some strategy.
My equipment needs for my solo gigs are pretty minimal: I don't need a whole lot of volume when I'm gigging in hotel lounges.  If anything, underplaying those kind of rooms is essential.  What I do need is my rig to be easily portable.
Pedal board, looper, micro amp and 2x5 cabinet.
So here's the result.  I commandeered one of my family's 'overhead' size suitcases and was delighted to find that my Electro Harmonix Freedom Bros. cabinet with two 5-inch CTS alnico speakers fit perfectly into half the bag.  I then found a bit of shelving sitting around the house and put together a little micro-pedal board that could take two to three (being optimistic here) pedals and would be roughly the same shape and size as my Boss RC-30 looper.
By happy accident everything was about the same size...
I was delighted to discover that the looper and pedal board tucked neatly into a little beer cooler I had kicking around the house and that the whole kit would fit into the suitcase well alongside the cab.  I tucked cables into the zippered compartment in the suitcase's lid, tossed in a guitar stand, my power supply and tuner and I was ready to (quite literally) roll.
...as this beer cooler.  I love complimentary beer coolers.  Ask my wife.

Oops.  Nope, I need a mic stand too... Well, the front pocket of the case holds my mic stand's base quite snuggly and a bit of gaff tape and cable wrap to affix the straight pole to the case's handle.  Toss two gig bags over the shoulder, grasp the handle and off to the gig you go...
Saving my back, one gig at a time.
