The Sky is Crying for Sure - Derek Trucks squeezes out every teardrop on killer slide guitar solo!

I haven't followed the Allman Brothers much in recent years but apparently I've been missing quite a bit because Derek Trucks is a serious revelation on a full throttle electric slide solo he did back in 2011.  It's amazing to see how the drummers lil' nephew grew up to be a monster player right up there on par with the late great Duane Allman.   I guess ten thousand hours of practice while growing up around some of the best guitarists in Southern rock will do that to ya.    You can listen to the whole tune and hear Warren Haynes do a decent solo as well or just CUT TO THE SLIDE SOLO starting at 6:30 in this Youtube video.

Obviously, there are a lot of amazing guitar players posting on outube but if you haven't checked out Mathias W. (Weber) already then you are in for a treat.  He never talks in his videos so I don't even know if he speaks English but wow...

...and 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and....  Often I hear less experienced guitarists who have reasonably good meter, but have a hard time coming up with good chord voicings or compelling rhythm grooves.  Some players have a tendency to push forward...

- "while My Guitar Gently Weeps" - Unpacking A Classic Guitar Solo
If there is a piece of music that captivated me this week, it was Eric Clapton's solo in the Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." I've been working on it again, and have found it difficult to master in its simplicity because of its unusual...
