VINTAGE GUITAR DEALS AT GC - Yes - it is possible!

Yes, I know that Guitar Center usually has above market prices for Vintage gear but, occasionally you can still find a deal. And I just spoke to a store manager in Seattle who told me he can ship me a double boxed vintage guitar via Fed Ex for only $12 shipping fee. Did you catch that - Only $12 shipping.

And the nice thing about buying from Guitar Center is you can call them on the phone and have one of the pimple faced kids who work there take the guitar and plug it into an amp and play it for you over the phone and you can ask him to describe it to you in every detail. And you can use a credit card.

I only looked for a few minutes but and there seem to be some good deals available right now - So here are a few current finds at Guitar Center around the country.

GUITAR CENTER, Lynwood WA - a 1978 Gibson SG Standard in vintage White for $799
- I am contemplating buying this one myself - even has the nice trapezoid inlays.

GUITAR CENTER, Little Rock AK - 1978 Gibson RD Standard for $999 (note: they also have an RD Artist for $1299 at another GC Store in Connecticut).

GUITAR CENTER Concord, CA - Gibson SG Classic in Heritage Cherry for $549 (note, the same GC has a Gibson SG in Worn Cherry for $499)

GUITAR CENTER, Abuquerque NM - Gibson 1974 SG Special II (Mahogany) for $695

ALSO:

GUITAR CENTER, Mays Landing NJ - a 1983 Fenfer Concert 60w tube amp (Rivera design) for $450. (I have one of these myself and love it. Great reverb!

- The Workshop
I thought it was about time I gave you a lookaround my workshop. This is the main bench where I do most of my work. I also have two other benches which I use mostly for either sawing, cutting, routing work or simply as somewhere to put instruments when...

- Gibson Es125d Re-fret
This is a continuation of my post describing a re-fret. This nice old Gibson is from 1966 and had such fret and finger board wear that I just had to show you it. The serial number isn't too clear in the photo but its 433265 and according to Gibson's...

- Acoustic Control 1981 Model G100t/ Model 160 100 Watt Tube Head At Gc In Kenwood Mi For $149
I spotted this Acoustic Control tube guitar head on the Guitar Center website and was surprised they were offering it for only $149.99.  These usually sell in the $300-$500 range and are much-loved by their owners.  This was Acoustics version...

- 1978 Gibson L6-s At Gc In Langhorne Pa For $499
I spotted this Vintage Bill Lawrence designed Gibson L6-S on the Guitar Center used gear site.  This black version of the L6-S Custom is less common than the all maple bodied model and it has a nice Ebony fretboard.  The listing implies that...

- John Frusciante Vintage Guitars
No matter what your opinion of John Frusciante of RHCP  as a guitarist or a person (I happen to like his playing) you can't question his taste in guitars.  He's owned and played some amazing instruments over the years (and had some interesting...
