Check this out - Kay / Gretsch or Japanese - you tell me?

Okay - here is one I have never seen before - has similarities to Kay Swingmaster, Barney Kessel type guitars but check out all that funky teardrop accent work!? That Pickguard? And the sweet herringbone binding - was this a one off? or a later Japanese clone (note that it is a bolt on neck but he doesn't show us the rear.

Unfortunately the seller seeems to be looking for quite a bit in trade for this possible non-working guitar. He wants a Honda Scooter or a Mac computer. Maybe someone can talk some sense into him. Or maybe it really is a gretch (sic!)

This almost looks like it was purposely dust covered by some Hollywood propmaster.

- Trutone (kay) K-100 In Los Angeles Ca For $200
I am a big fan of these K-100's (aka Vanguard) because they are simple beasts that do one thing very well.   If you've never played one of these, or anything similar, they feel strange when you first pick them up - they are full scale...

- Stunning Kay Swingmaster In Indianapolis For $575
Okay, I know $575 is a lot of money and these are not the most in demand guitars in the world but - look at how beautiful this 1965 Swingmaster is - it is just stunning.  The fully inlaid trapezoid neck and the Kleenex box pickups and that is not...

- Teisco K2-l In Kalamazoo Mi For $200
Here is a cool old K2-L - one of the better playing Teisco's.  Blue is the most popular but the red ones are still cool.   If you are lucky this one should have the 4x2 headstock.  These sharkfin models are some...

- Airline (kay) Barney Kessel Electric In Cincinatti For $500
Not an amazing deal but a nice looking guitar for a decent price.  The Barney Kessel is the most collectible of the Kay's but this is the later 1960's version - not the earlier single cut Kelvinator model - though it does have the Kleenex...

- Encore 335 Style Semi Hollow In Western Mass For $300 Obo
This guitar looks black in the pics but the seller says it is a "Greenburst" which makes it a very cool looking Univox/Ventura/Aria Diamond guitar. Note that it has the two switches - one on each bout - and the angular single coil pickups just like...
