THIS TRULY IS A VINTAGE BIRD. MANUFACTURED BY NATIONAL/VALCO IN THE 60'S UNDER A VARIETY OF BRAND NAMES INCLUDING SUPRO,AIRLINE, OAHU AND NATIONAL. AIRLINE WAS THE HOUSE BRAND NAME FOR MONTGOMERY WARDS.
THIS SHORT SCALE BASS HAS AN AMAZING COMBINATION OF SOUNDS. IT HAS A PIEZO PICKUP BUILT INTO THE BRAZILLIAN ROSEWOOD ADJUSTABLE BRIDGE AND WITH THE BLEND CONTROL ALL THE WAY OVER TO PIEZO, GIVES AN INCREDIBLY WOODY TONE THAT RESEMBLES AN UPRIGHT BASS. THE PIEZO IS QUITE MICROPHONIC, SO YOU CAN USE THIS TO GET GREAT EFFECTS DEPENDING ON HOW YOU PLAY.
THE NECK PICKUP IS A TYPICAL VALCO MONSTER. VERY FULL AND FAT SOUND - THINK GIBSON EB0, BUT BLEND THE TWO PICKUPS TOGETHER AND GET SOME GREAT SOUNDS. EX- SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE BAND LEADER, GE SMITH CALLED THESE THE BEST RECORDING BASS AROUND.
OTHER INTERESTING FEATURES:
ICE TEA SUNBURST
ORIGINAL NICKEL KLUSON TUNERS
"AIRLINE" LOGO ON ART DECO ASYMMETRICAL WHITE BAKELITE HEAD STOCK
DUAL FIN-SHAPED WHITE PICK GUARDS AND DUAL PLEXIGLAS THUMB REST
DOUBLE CUT-A-WAY BODY
20 FRETS WITH BRAZILLIAN ROSEWOOD FINGERBOARD AND BRIDGE
NICKEL TRAPEZE TAIL PIECE
WHITE WITCH HAT CONTROL KNOBS
TOP MOUNTED INPUT JACK
THIS BASS GUITAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THERE IS NO CASE. IT WILL ADD MUCH PLEASURE TO HOWEVER PURCHASES THIS ITEM. . .IT'S JUST FUN TO PLAY.
FAIRLY PRICED @ $650

Fender Reissues The Super-sonic As Part Of Its Pawn Shop Series
guitarz.blogspot.com: The new Super-Sonic now has the Fender logo on its upside-down head rather than the Squier logo, but of course the irony is that the Squier version would have been Made in Japan rather than in Mexico, which is where I believe the...

The seller gives some useful info about this bass but does he really have to convince us that it is cool? C'mon?! This model is the bass version of the vaunted Danelectro Hornet and it is awesome! Just look at it - two lipstick pickups,...

Supro Tosca Short Scale Guitar In Santa Clarita, Ca For $395
This Supro built TOSCA is very similar to the two pickup Amp in case Airline I listed a few days ago. These Tosca's show up every once in a shile - they were the intro level electric in the Supro Catalog back in the early 1960's. I believe it...

1964 Airline Electric W/ Amp In Case For $650 In Sf Bay Area
These are related to the Airline Model 7214 but they have two pickups instead of one. I know that this costs a bit more than a comparable Silvertone 1448 amp-in-case model but it is also less common. These Airline's were made by Supro (Valco) and...

Airline Valco Guitar W Tube Amp In Case In Louisville For $450
Here is a neat Valco made Airline guitar form the late 50's or early sixties - very high cool quotient here. And it is a 6V6/12AX7/5Y3 amp not a simple 50C5 type. ************************************************************************* Valco Airline...
