1960s Hoyer semi-hollow Telecaster

guitarz.blogspot.com

I knew that Hoyer has been producing their own version of the Telecaster since the 1960s (as you can see here, it's never been a mere copy) up to nowadays, but so far I didn't know the semi-hollow version of it. And I say semi-hollow, not thinline like the Fender Thinline Telecaster we all know - a chambered guitar with a single F-hole on the upper side. This is a real archtop semi-hollow guitar in the German style, probably out of laminated wood, that just keeps from the Tele the general outline! And I must say that it works quite well!

- Hoyer Double Florentine Cutaway Archtop Beauty
guitarz.blogspot.com You know by now how fond I am of semi-hollow archtop guitars with double florentine cutaway, such as this beautiful Hoyer. I don't understand why this design is not more successful - or maybe it is its rarity that makes it so...

- 2006 Gibson Vegas Standard Semi-hollowbody Flat-top Oddity
guitarz.blogspot.com: The Gibson Vegas Standard was only produced for two years; I'm guessing it just wasn't traditional enough a Gibson for most guitarists' tastes. Whilst many of the features of the guitar are Gibson trademarks - the Trini...

- Custom 77 Roxy - A New Classic?
guitarz.blogspot.com I know that I probably spend much too much time ranting here about how unimaginative guitar making became in the last decades, so let's cut the crap and rejoice over creative luthiers and small companies that can...

- Univox Coily 1960's Japanese 335 Copy In Central New Jersey For $200
The Univox Coily is an interesting and fun MIJ 335-style semi-hollow out of the Matsumoku factory similar to the Aria, Ventura and Bruno models of the same period.  Pickups vary on these but this one has the "staple" humbuckers originally created...
